Fashion Board Blog Entry

Three of my favorite things to watch are "My So-Called Life," a 90's television show; "The Virgin Suicides," a movie made in 1999; and "Skins UK," a show which started a couple years ago. A main part of why these shows/movie are so great is based on the fashion, especially in certain characters. I decided on creating three collages inspired by the characters' fashion senses, along with hints of Fall trends such as 90's grunge and girly meets menswear.

The first collage is based on the character, Rayanne Graff in "My So-Called Life." Her style is 90's grunge and I'm basically hyperventilating on the idea that the 90's grunge trend is now back in style. This means there will be even more Rayanne Graff-like outfits flooding the markets, which makes me a very happy camper, if I say so myself!

Basically, think: combat boots, oversized plaid shirts, braided hair, dark lipstick, velvet, leather, choker necklaces, and black lace. There we have it, a pixilated computer generated Rayanne Graff, if you will.

This second collage is based off of Lux Lisbon, in the movie "TheVirgin Suicides." Her style is basically flower power meets Summer goddess. Even though her style is more summer-y, you can transition your Summer wardrobe into Fall by adding a white blazer to an outfit. Blazers are back in for Fall, and by wearing a dress, you are combining girly with menswear.

Think: white lace, white blazers, plaid mini skirts, daisies, pastels, and pearls.

This third collage is based on the character, Effy Stonem in the show, "Skins UK." Her style is also very grunge X girly. She will take a dress and shred it up, then pair it with a motorcycle jacket, ripped tights, and combat boots. For Fall, studs and spikes are a very big trend, especially when paired with girlier things. I added an over sized leopard jacket, because leopard is also everywhere in sight this season.

Think: over sized jackets, leather, smokey eyes, studs/spikes, black lace, and combat boots.

What are your favorite trends for the upcoming season? Any television show/movie characters that are inspiring your style at the moment? Leave your responses in the comments! :)
